Dear 2007 UCLA graduates,
I am pleased to join your family and friends in congratulating you on what you have accomplished. Your graduation from UCLA is a landmark event in your life, and you can be justifiably proud.
This is a day to reflect on your achievements, an opportunity to acknowledge those whose love and support helped you reach this point, and a time to look forward to the next exciting challenges that await you. Your ability to succeed at UCLA, being among the brightest and most talented young scholars in the nation, portends a promising future for you.
Your academic work and the activities in which you have participated have enriched our campus life and added to the great legacy of our university. We expect you to continue to be an active part of the UCLA family even after graduation.
Build upon the friendships you made while you were here. Forge connections and network with some of the hundreds of thousands of Bruins who came before you. This university’s alumni are an accomplished and distinguished group that includes leaders and innovators in every segment of business, public service, academia and the arts.
Service to our community is a vital element of UCLA’s mission, and you and your fellow students have generously contributed time, ideas and energy to serving our campus and our neighbors throughout Los Angeles.
Wherever your studies and career lead you, take with you the Bruin spirit of service. Seek opportunities to improve the lives of those in need, and elevate your communities.
You and your fellow graduates are prepared to excel in the years ahead. I urge you to approach each of your many roles in society ““ family member, professional and citizen ““ with sensitivity, integrity and good judgment.
I wish you much happiness and success as you move on in your lives. Congratulations and best wishes.
