For the first time in the Ben Howland era of UCLA basketball,
the Bruins will be holding a practice that is open for all students
to come watch.
On Sunday at 3:15 p.m., all students with a valid Bruin Card
will be allowed admission into Pauley Pavilion for the
practice.
It will begin with a scrimmage and be followed by a dunk
contest.
As a general rule, basketball practices, unlike football
practices, are not open to the general public.
SEASON BEGINS: The Bruins will begin play
Thursday against Cal Poly Pomona at 7:30 p.m. at Pauley
Pavilion.
The game will be the first of three home contests, including
games against Humboldt State and BYU, before the Bruins head to
Hawaii for the EA Sports Maui Invitational where they will face
Chaminade in their first round matchup.
Last year, the Bruins began their season winning 13 of their
first 14 games. This year, the Bruins will go until January without
playing in a truly hostile environment when they head up to
Corvallis to face Oregon State.
TICKETS SOLD: The Den, UCLA’s student
sports fan organization, reports that more than 6,000 student
season tickets have already been sold, a record for UCLA.
This comes after last year’s run to the NCAA championship
game.
This year, student season tickets will be electronically placed
on Bruin Cards in much the same way as football tickets.
