Coach Wooden returns home

Legendary UCLA coach John Wooden returned home Wednesday after
spending three nights in a hospital.

Wooden spent Sunday through Tuesday night in the hospital after
suffering from a case of diverticulitis ““ an inflammation
near the colon.

The coach watched Monday night’s national title game from
his hospital bed.

“Coach Wooden came home this morning,”
Wooden’s daughter, Nancy Muehlhausen, said in a release.

“He will stay quiet and rest the next few days. The
bleeding has stopped and he is doing well.”

Wooden, who has been known to take his commitments very
seriously, was upset that his condition forced him to miss
prearranged speaking engagements that took place during the week.
Wooden had planned to speak at a meeting for the American Fund
Group earlier in the week.

Also Wednesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed
legislation agreeing to put Wooden’s name on a post office in
Reseda. The city of Reseda is close to Wooden’s home in
Encino and is where Muehlhausen resides.

The post office would be named “The Coach John Wooden Post
Office,” pending approval from the U.S. Senate.

Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Sherman Oaks, introduced the bill Thursday,
March 30.
