Small fire occurs in Westwood apartment
A small fire broke out in one room at the Club California
apartments on Roebling Avenue in Westwood.
No injuries were reported.
The fire broke out around 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday in room 511. It
was extinguished by 8:40 p.m., said Jim Wells, spokesman for the
Los Angeles Fire Department. At least four fire engines responded
to the emergency and closed Roebling Avenue in both directions.
The apartment building was evacuated until the smoke cleared.
Residents of Club California and nearby apartments gathered outside
to watch.
Tanya Rudia, the manager’s assistant in Club California,
said she was in the building when the fire started.
“I was up in the apartment and I smelled gasoline, and I
called 911,” she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Wells said.
