San Jose State’s starting setter may become a
Bruin
Allison Dillon, the starting setter for the San Jose State
women’s volleyball team this season, may transfer to UCLA
next fall.
UCLA coach Andy Banachowski offered the former prep All-American
a scholarship this past week, and she will take an official visit
later this month. Dillon, who attended grammar school with UCLA
men’s volleyball freshman Steve Klosterman, is also
considering Long Beach State.
“UCLA is definitely a possibility,” said Maureen
Dillon, Allison’s mother. “It will be a tough
decision.”
The 5-foot-7 Dillon, whose father played basketball at LBSU from
1973-1977, prepped at volleyball powerhouse Long Beach Wilson High.
She led San Jose State in assists this season and was among the
team leaders in digs.
UCLA currently has two setters on its roster that see
significant court time ““ sophomore Haley Jorgensborg and
junior Krystal McFarland. If Dillon were to transfer to UCLA, she
could take over the starting position after McFarland graduates in
2005.
