W. volleyball: UCLA loses Game 2 lead, match against Arizona

The No. 6 UCLA women’s volleyball team went into Thursday
night’s match against Arizona looking to avenge a four-match
loss at home to the Wildcats last month.

What the Bruins got was a beating that was even worse, as the
Wildcats surprised them once again and snapped their six-match
winning streak with a 30-21, 37-35, 30-24 win at the McKale
Center.

UCLA blew a big 29-24 lead in Game 2, spoiling six game points.
The Bruins then sealed their fate by falling behind 13-6 in Game
3.

Arizona outside hitter Kim Glass led all attackers with 21 kills
on the night and also notched a career-high 19 digs.

Jennifer Abernathy, who recently won National Player of the Week
honors, had 13 kills and nine digs for Arizona.

UCLA freshman outside hitter Colby Lyman led the Bruins with 13
kills, hitting .306, but the team hit just .098 overall.

Junior outside hitter Heather Cullen had six kills on seven
hitting errors, and senior middle blocker Cira Wright notched three
kills on five hitting errors.

Chrissie Zartman led the Bruins with 14 digs in the match. Lyman
added 13.

UCLA plays Arizona State (8-13, 3-9) tonight. The Bruins swept
the Sun Devils at home last month.
