“Ghost World”
Ackerman Grand Ballroom
Nov. 7, 6:30 p.m.
What better way to kick off your super*MARKET weekend than with
a free screening of the film The New York Times called “the
best depiction of teenage eccentricity since
“˜Rushmore?'” Based on a graphic novel by Daniel
Clowes, it’ll put you in the mood for a weekend of indie
comics. Watch out for Steve Buscemi’s performance as a rather
pathetic record collector: He actually gets to kiss a girl, and,
frankly, it’s borderline disturbing. FREE. Visit
www.campusevents.ucla.edu for more info.
“Fast, Cheap & Out of
Control”
James Bridges Theater
Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m.
If you think a wild animal trainer, a topiary gardener, a mole
rat specialist and a robot scientist have nothing in common ““
well, think again. The Errol Morris documentary comes to UCLA for a
screening put on by Melnitz Movies to conclude its week of showing
Morris documentaries. Although not as well known as “The Thin
Blue Line,” “Fast, Cheap & Out of Control”
promises to make insights about humanity that only the
four-featured specialists can make. FREE. Try

“Midnight Madness”
Landmark Nuart Theater
Nov. 8, 12 a.m.
For everyone who considers “Teen Wolf” to be one of
the most underrated artistic achievements of the 20th century,
here’s your chance to see Michael J. Fox’s film debut,
as part of the Nuart Theater’s weekly Friday midnight
screenings. The plot revolves around an all-night scavenger hunt,
but as the film is a college comedy made in 1980, don’t
expect too much of a story. In terms of camp, it’s hard to
put down anything Fox made in the ’80s. $9.25. Go to
www.landmarktheaters.com for info.
