Petty theft Two parking permits, a digital
camera and two cellular phones were stolen during this period,
totaling losses of $750. A stereo, cell phone, speakers and a
backpack were stolen from Canyon Point on Sunday, with losses
totaling $630. A $200 bicycle was stolen from the back of the
Wooden Center on Thursday. Someone removed a stereo and U.S.
currency from a car parked on Ophir Avenue on Wednesday, totaling
losses of $230. Someone removed jewelry from an apartment on
Landfair Avenue on March 25.
Grand theft A man found with 1 gram of rock
cocaine was arrested near the corner of Kelton and Wilkins Avenue
on Saturday. On Friday, a car stereo and CDs were stolen from a
vehicle parked near Veteran and Weyburn Avenues and from a vehicle
parked at the Sunset Village parking structure. Losses totaled
$1,400. A stereo, CD changer and sunglasses were stolen from a
vehicle at the Sunset Village parking structure Thursday, with
losses totaling $1,200. Someone stole $900 in miscellaneous items
from a purse at the Rehabilitation Center Thursday. A digital
camera and cellular phone were stolen from the Young Research
Library on Thursday, with losses totaling $1,350.
Miscellaneous The smell of marijuana was
reported at Hedrick Hall on Monday. A hit-and-run was reported at
Lot 8 Friday. That same day, two people were reportedly having
sexual relations in the bathroom of Royce Hall. Numerous fireworks
were being used at 581 Gayley Ave. on Thursday. Some people were
aggressively panhandling and threatening to shoot patrons if they
did not comply with their demands at the entrance to L.A. Fitness
on Thursday.
