Petty theft Two wallets, two permits, one
purse, one backpack and one cellular phone were stolen during this
period, totalling losses of $395. Someone stole $60 from another
person in Murphy Hall on Friday. A stereo/compact disk player and a
CD visor were removed from a vehicle in the Sunset Village parking
structure, totalling losses of $350. Someone stole $178 from a
concessions register stand outside Pauley Pavilion between 6 and 8
p.m. Friday. Copy cards were removed from a desk in the Medical
Plaza on Tuesday.
Grand theft A laptop, CDs, DVDs and U.S.
currency were removed from the 400 block of Gayley Avenue Sunday,
totalling losses of $5,870. A $510 bicycle was stolen from a bike
rack outside the School of Law on Thursday. On Wednesday, a
backpack was removed from an unlocked locker outside Hedrick Hall
dining facility between 7:10 and 7:30 a.m., totalling losses of
$435. Someone stole a $2,000 Hewlett Packard laptop from Young Hall
Tuesday. Earlier that morning, someone removed a laptop from the
Cedar building in De Neve Plaza.
Miscellaneous Four men attempted to break into
a vehicle parked in Lot 6 on Saturday. Also that day, six to seven
men were fighting and throwing bottles on Kelton and Ophir Avenues.
Earlier on Saturday, a woman wearing a business suit solicited sex
from a passerby on Bruin Walk near Kerckhoff Hall. On Thursday, a
suspicious package was left inside a bus at the Hilgard turnaround.
It was partially open and secured with a string. After closing off
the area and calling the bomb squad, police discovered the package
contained a coffee maker. On Wednesday, university police received
a report that there is a bee nest on Levering Avenue, north of
