Petty theft Four cell phones, three parking
permits, six wallets, two backpacks and one purse were stolen
during this period, totalling losses of $1,846. Someone removed an
envelope and food worth $6 from the Center for Health Sciences on
Saturday. Someone cut open a convertible top and removed a $70
compact disc player from a vehicle on the 700 block of Gayley
Avenue on Friday. Clocks and food were removed from the Career
Center between 5 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday. A license plate
was removed from a vehicle parked on the 3000 block of Sawtelle
Avenue.
Grand theft A $2,000 gold wedding ring with
diamonds was stolen from the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center
between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Friday. A stereo, miscellaneous compact
discs and U.S. currency, totalling $750, were stolen from a vehicle
parked in the Sunset Village parking lot Thursday. A $460 cellular
phone was stolen from a desk in Powell Library between 10:05 and
10:10 a.m. Feb. 15.
Miscellaneous Someone entered a locked office
in the School of Law and left a bloody paper towel and a trail of
blood on the couch and on a book Friday. The owner of the office
reported he has recently received death threats. Earlier that day,
two suspects were seen attempting to enter a code into a keypad on
the 500 block of Hilgard Avenue. One of the suspects was wearing a
mask. Also on Friday, a suspect smashed a paper towel holder in the
Royce Hall men’s rest room in the basement. Someone slashed
the tires of a vehicle parked in Lot 4 Wednesday. Also that day,
someone attempted to break a window at Canyon Point between 11:30
and 11:45 a.m. On Feb. 18, someone attempted to enter a room in the
Evergreen building in De Neve Plaza. Between Feb. 16 and 17,
someone left a muddy footprint on the bed of a Canyon Point room in
Sunset Village.
