Petty theft Five cell phones, one backpack, one
purse, four parking permits, two bikes and 12 wallets were stolen
during this period, totalling a loss of $1,784. A credit card and a
CD player were removed from Powell Library Wednesday, totalling a
loss of $65. After someone removed a wallet from Dodd Hall Tuesday,
it was recovered with everything in place except for the credit
cards and an identification card. Someone stole $300 from a purse
in Santa Monica Hospital on Monday.

Grand theft A backpack worth $450 was removed
from Young Chemistry Library on Monday between 1 and 1:05 p.m. A
$2,000 laptop was removed from Campbell Hall Thursday. A gym bag
and its contents, worth $420, were removed from the second floor of
Ackerman Union Wednesday. A receiver and a DVD player were removed
from Macgowan Hall on Jan. 29. Sound equipment were removed from
Hershey Hall, totalling a loss of $6,000, between Jan. 24 and
29.

Miscellaneous Someone smashed a driver’s
side mirror and put gum in a door handle of a car on Sunday.
Someone attempted to use forged checks at University Credit Union
on Saturday between 5 and 5:10 p.m. A pellet gun was shot through a
window on a complex on the 400 block of Gayley Avenue. Four
suspects were acting aggressively toward female passersby and
making sexual comments on Gayley Avenue between Le Conte and
Weyburn avenues on Thursday. Between Jan. 28 and Feb. 4, there were
cases of car vandalism, one car break-in and one hit-and-run
accident. University police received reports of seven annoying
phone calls from residents of the Cedar and Evergreen buildings of
De Neve Plaza between Jan. 28 and 31.
