Petty theft Five parking permits, three
backpacks, two wallets, one cell phone and one purse were stolen
during this period, totaling a loss of $640. Someone stole the rear
license plate from a blue-green 1994 Honda Accord in Lot 3 between
7 p.m Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. A compact disk player was stolen
from a 1995 beige Toyota Corolla parked in Lot 2 between 7:45 a.m.
and 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 23. Someone stole a $104 calculator from a
Sunset Village dorm room between 6 p.m. Oct. 10 and 8 p.m. Oct.
12.

Grand theft A backpack was lifted from the
College Library between 3:25 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The loss totaled
$810. Someone smashed the passenger-side mirror of a black 1997
Chevy Cavalier between 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. The
central processing unit of a computer was stolen from a 1987 white
Honda Civic parked on the 600 block of Kelton Avenue between 2:30
p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Someone stole a stereo, amplifiers
and subwoofers ““ worth a total $600 ““ from a 1999 black
Honda Civic parked in the Sunset Village lot between 7 p.m. Oct. 21
and 5 p.m. Wednesday. Someone stole a compact disk deck and other
radio equipment from a 1998 blue Acura Integra parked in Lot 2
between 12 a.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 23.

Grand theft auto Someone removed a white 1989
Honda motor scooter from a lot on the 10900 block of Strathmore
Avenue between 5 p.m. Oct. 19 and 3 p.m. Oct. 20. Someone removed a
gold-colored UCLA football helmet spirit vehicle near Lot 8 between
10:30 p.m. Oct. 22 and 8 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle was later
located on the 600 block of Gayley Avenue.

Miscellaneous A woman, upset that her car had
been towed, reportedly stood and shouted without permission behind
a Westwood convenient store counter Thursday. Four people were
cited for “aggressively soliciting magazine sales” at
Covel Commons Wednesday. Police received three mysterious letters,
one of which was sent from India without a return address. Also, a
white powdery substance was found on the ground between the Center
for Health Sciences and Reed Neurological Research Center on Oct.
23. Criminal motives were not suspected in any of the four
cases.
