Petty theft Ten cell phones, four wallets, five
parking passes, two backpacks and a purse were stolen during this
period, totaling losses of $1,765. Someone stole a VISA checkcard
from a wallet at the Center for Health Sciences around 2 p.m.
Thursday. Someone stole a $250 computer monitor from an apartment
on the 400 block of Landfair Avenue that same day. Someone stole
three compact disks and a stereo, totaling $180, from a 2000 Honda
Civic parked in Lot 30 Wednesday. Someone held a victim at gunpoint
under the Strathmore Avenue overpass and took off with $30 on Oct.
9. Sandwich boards were lifted from an apartment on the 500 block
of Midvale Avenue that same day. A checkbook was stolen from a
parked vehicle on the 400 block of Kelton Avenue between 8 p.m.
Sept. 30 and 10 a.m. Oct. 9. A lighter, gas card and $260 were
stolen from an unattended bag on Sept. 29 at 3:45 p.m. at the
Center for Health Sciences.
Grand theft Someone stole a stereo and
miscellaneous property, totaling $5,000, from a 1991 Honda parked
on Veteran Avenue Sunday. A gold-colored Saturn was reportedly
stolen that same day. The car was parked on Veteran Avenue near
Strathmore Avenue. Someone stole a purse and a clothing bag,
totaling $405, from an apartment on the 900 block of Tiverton
Avenue at about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday. Stereo equipment from a black
1995 Chevy Tahoe parked on Veteran Avenue between Montana Avenue
and Sunset Boulevard were stolen at about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday. That
same day, someone stole a backpack from Covel Commons. Its contents
totaled $3,380. Someone used another person’s identity to
withdraw $5,665 from an ATM account between June 18 and Aug.

Miscellaneous Someone broke a toilet at
Maloney’s on Campus at about 1 a.m. Saturday. University
police detected the possible smell of marijuana from a Courtside
dorm room at 1:35 a.m. Friday. A man “covered from head to
toe in black” with a skeleton’s mask, was reportedly
spraying an unknown substance at the Arthur Ashe Center at 10 a.m.
