Card show not only for football games

In a possible attempt to add some color to the football halftime
show, the UCLA men’s soccer team is picking up yellow and red
cards for fouls at an accelerated pace.

So far in 2001, the Bruins (3-3-2) have received 18 yellow and
three red cards in eight games.

UCLA is on pace for 45 yellow and seven red cards in 20 games
““ compared to 31 yellow and zero red cards in 19 games last
season. Opponents this season have amassed nine yellow and one red
card against the Bruins.

A trio of sophomores has accounted for UCLA’s three red
cards. Defender Alex Yi and midfielder Adolfo Gregorio were both
ejected from the 2-1 season opening loss to Maryland. Forward Cliff
McKinley was ejected from Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Loyola
Marymount.

No longer ranked

Coming into last weekend, the Bruins were ranked at No. 11 in
the Soccer America Top 20 and at No. 20 in the NSCAA coaches
poll.

After a scoreless tie with UC Santa Barbara on Friday and the
loss to LMU, UCLA finds itself unranked in the latest polls.
