BASKETBALL EXTRA: Gloger’s future still unclear

By Christina Teller
Daily Bruin Senior Staff According to ESPN.com”šs Andy Katz on
Friday, the epic of Spencer Gloger has not come to a close. Head
coach Steve Lavin announced on Wednesday that Gloger was
transferring back to Princeton, but Gloger has not withdrawn from
classes at UCLA, according to the Registrar’s Office. Gloger is
also currently enrolled at Princeton. According to Katz, Gloger
told Lavin that he might return to UCLA by the weekend and be at
individual workouts on Monday. However, Gloger was nowhere to be
found Monday at the Wooden Center. "I don’t know nothing about
Spencer Gloger,"senior forward Matt Barnes said. "I couldn’t tell
you where he’s at. I have no idea." Also in the ESPN.com report,
Gloger has informed Princeton coach John Thompson III that if he
returns to Princeton, he would play basketball, even though he
originally told Lavin he wanted to focus on academics and not play
college basketball. Also in the ESPN.com report, one-time UCLA
signee Michael Fey could receive Gloger’s scholarship if he can
make the SAT cut in the fall and if Gloger stays at Princeton.
————————————————— Barnes tweaked
his knee in a pick-up game at the Wooden Center on Thursday,
according to Associate Director of Sports Information Bill Bennett.
Barnes had an MRI come back negative on Monday and still needs to
meet with team doctors for rehab. Despite the injury, there does
not seem to be any serious cause for concern. "They thought I tore
my meniscus," Barnes said. "(The MRI) was fine. It was clean. So
I’m just going to take a couple of days off and start playing on
Wednesday."
