Danielle Mai Ting Jue
Danielle Mai Ting Jue, 19, died Sept. 9 following a river
rafting accident on Cache Creek.
Jue entered UCLA as an undeclared freshman last year with
aspirations of becoming a lawyer.
“Danielle wanted to become a lawyer to help the
underprivileged who normally would not be able to afford expensive
lawyer fees,” said Colette Jue, Danielle’s older
sister. “Articulate, confident, outspoken and passionate,
family and friends often envisioned her as a judge in
robes.”
At UCLA, Jue quickly became a member of Phi Eta Sigma and the
National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She was a member of the
Alumni Scholars Club, having received a scholarship from the UCLA
Alumni Association, and also worked at the UCLA Athletic Department
in the Sports Information Office.
Danielle is survived by her mother Genny, father Martin and her
grandmother Lin Sun Lim.
Donations in Danielle’s memory can be made to the Red
Cross Relief Fund or Doctors Without Borders.
