Crime Watch

Petty theft One parking permit and $1,690 in wallets, backpacks
and cellular phones were stolen last week. Someone pried a lock and
stole a $200 stereo from a blue 1995 Chevy S10 parked in Lot 4 on
Saturday. A $350 bicycle was stolen from a garage on the 3000 block
of Sawtelle Boulevard Thursday. A $375 motorcycle helmet was stolen
from the parking lot near Franz Hall Wednesday.

Grand theft A white 2000 Volkswagen Jetta parked near Veteran
and Gayley Avenues was stolen on Friday. A $500 banner was stolen
from Covel Commons Dining Hall Thursday afternoon.

Miscellaneous Four cars were vandalized last week. The cars were
keyed, had their windows smashed, or had air released from the
tires. Police received a report that 12 to 15 people were fighting
near the south side of Drake Stadium around 2:30 a.m. Friday. Two
members of the opposite sex were running around naked on the top
level of Lot 5 around 1 a.m. Friday. Around that same time, police
received a third-hand report of lewd contact on the roof of Bunche
Hall. Someone threw a water balloon at a silver 2000 Nissan Maxima
on the 600 block of Gayley Avenue on Friday. A gray 1997 Acura
Integra displaying a stolen parking permit in the Sunset Village
parking lot was impounded by police Thursday afternoon. Police
received a report that an intoxicated person at the Hilgard bus
turnaround was blocking the street so that a Santa Monica Big Blue
Bus was unable to move around 8:45 p.m. on May 9. Police received a
report of a battery on May 9 about someone pushing another person
on the fifth floor of Boelter Hall.

Emergency Medical Technicians EMTs responded to 18 calls during
this time period, one of which was for a report of an intoxicated
man lying unconscious at the Hilgard bus turnaround. The EMTs
arrived to find multiple newspaper stands on top of the man, who
was actively vomiting. The man was transported to the Emergency
Medicine Center by EMTs and the Los Angeles Fire Department.
