Crimewatch
The Center for Health Sciences on Le Conte has become a popular
haunt for thieves this week.
A total of $400 cash was stolen from the women’s restroom on
Tuesday, and a coin purse and University Keys went missing – a loss
of $45. The following day a wallet was reported stolen with an
estimated loss of $63.
Saturday was the most productive for thieves, with a total of
four purses reported missing in various locations including: the
east and west nursing stations and the 7th floor of the main
building. In addition a VCR worth $1850 was removed from the main
building between December and January.
At Rieber Hall a $200 Panasonic television was taken, and later
recovered, and a backpack was taken from the locker bins between 3
p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
A piccolo and flute worth $1850 were taken from a locker from
Schoenberg Hall, and $1021 in cash was taken from Lu Valle Commons
between Saturday and Sunday.
Computer equipment was also taken this week: a Hewlett Packard
Printer and Fox Modem from Botany 229, a laptop computer from the
Molecular Biology Institute, and a CD ROM drive from the Factor
building.
Parking permits continue to be a motivation for car break-ins,
with a total of four reported stolen this week. Two in Structure SV
on levels 1 and 3, one in Structure 6 level 2, and one in Structure
5 level 3.
CDs and stereo equipment were taken in two separate instances at
Keystone upper garage and Structure 4.
White 89 Acura Integras seem to be the car for thieves – two
were taken, one from Gayley and the other from Lot 30. The latter
was recovered. A Toyota Camry was also stolen from Mid vale.
Vandalism was limited to cars being keyed in lot 31, Structure
SV, and two in Structure 1.
