Museum of Tolerance July sets the stage for an array of
inspiring events at the Los Angeles Museum of Tolerance. Published
poet and writer Edzia J. Goldstein will come to the Museum of
Tolerance to share her Holocaust experiences. Theatrical events are
also scheduled for the museum. The play "My Children! My Africa!"
which is scheduled for July 16, portrays a bi-racial friendship in
South Africa before the end of Apartheid. "My Life," a story of
five women facing racial issues, plays July 17. On July 20, a
children’s storytelling hour unfolds tales from around the world.
Expected performers include Leslie Perry, a Pasadena native known
for his tall tales, Jewish folklorist Karen Golden and Gay Ducey,
an orator of Southern stories. For museum event times and prices
call (310) 553-8403. Jazz at LACMA The Los Angeles County Museum of
Art celebrates the summer with free Friday Night Jazz at 5:30 p.m.
throughout August. Jazz lovers can choose from the beats of the
L.A. Jazz Quartet and the rhythms of the Cecilia Coleman Quintet.
Sundays offer free big band jazz including Gerald Wilson Big Band
and Bill Holman’s Jazz Orchestra at 1:30 p.m. on the museum’s
plaza. Also, free chamber music concerts by the City of Los Angeles
Cultural Affairs take place at the museum’s Bing Theater. For more

"Musical Treasures of the World," the Los Angeles community can
look forward to this year’s Hollywood Bowl children’s festival,
"Open House." Running through mid-August, "Open House" offers
interactive performances, workshops, arts, crafts and movement
classes for children 3 to 12 years old. Following the performances,
workshop activities will solidify the objective of the preceding
performance. "Open House" participants are invited to observe the
Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians prepare for evening
performances. "Open House" performances run Monday through Friday,
10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Workshops follow at 11:00 a.m. and 12:15

Anniversary of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival kicked
off Friday night at the Los Angeles Theatre with an opening party
of thousands of L.A.’s most proud and out queer film aficionados.
The festival screens films in over 10 movie theaters all over the
greater Los Angeles basin. With such titles as "Leather Jacket Love
Story," and "Tickle Me Homo," being presented, some for the first
time, there should be a wide choice of cinema for every queer and
queer-friendly person. Festival planners expect over 30,000 people
to attend the festival which will show over 250 films. "Guilty
Pleasures" tries to explain exactly what makes a film, even those
without any specifically gay or lesbian content. "Cleopatra," with
La Liz at her finest, will be presented by the popular writer Clive
Barker. "Personal Best," showcasing lesbian drama on the track,
will be hosted by Chastity Bono, the offspring of Sonny and Cher.
