Police are still searching for a suspect wanted in connection
with the Sept. 14 murder of a UCLA Central Ticket Office
employee.

Kevin Jeske, 37, was killed during an apparent attempted robbery
as he deposited receipts from the Wadsworth Theater box office,
police said. The victim had deposited the receipts before he was
shot, impeding the robbery attempt.

University officials held a memorial service for the victim on
the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Armand Hammer Museum in
Westwood.

The suspect is a clean-shaven, African-American male, 25- to
35-years-old and weighs 200-250 pounds, police said. The suspect
wore combat fatigues, black combat boots, and a thigh-length black
jacket during the robbery attempt.

Police said the suspect fled the scene in a red 1980s model
Nissan 240SX or 300ZX. The suspect is considered armed and
dangerous.

There is no evidence to suggest the suspect is a UCLA student or
is in any way affiliated with UCLA, said university police Capt.
Terry Baker.

Chancellor Charles E. Young has authorized a $25,000 reward for
information leading to the arrest and conviction of the
shooter.

Despite last week’s incident, university officials believe the
campus is relatively safe, although security patrols were increased
following the murder incident. University police Chief Clarence
Chapman said that all future night cash deposits would be
accompanied by university police. Jeske was alone the night of the
murder.

The incident was the first murder on campus since 1990, when a
workplace dispute turned deadly at the medical center.
